Easy Cricut Wooden Plaque
I got the very first Cricut that came out back in 2007 or so for my scrapbooking projects. Ten years later and three more Cricut cutters, it's much more than a paper cutter. If you can imagine it - you can probably use your Cricut machine for it to come to fruition. I have used mine to create banners, send cards, decorate bulletin boards, make tshirts, and everything in between.
I'm always asked to give a quick tutorial or easy project on the Cricut - so today is that day. As my previous blog noted, I'm in the middle of redoing my craft room - so I wanted to come up with a project that was specific to the craft room. I didn't want to do the standard painted wooden letters that spelled "CREATE". So, this is what I've come up with:
This is a super easy craft to try if you are a newbie to Cricut or a beginner in using vinyl. The supplies you are going to need are as follows:
Access to Cricut Design Space - to use my template go here
Vinyl sheets in preferred colors -
Assuming you use my template, adjust your sizes and colors of the letters according to your preference. Load your first vinyl sheet onto your mat. Cut out your first color. After your first color is cut - you simply peal off each letter/saying and apply it to your wooden plank. I did "Inspiration Station" in yellow; however, I didn't think there was enough contrast between the whitewash of the board I used and the yellow. So, I took a fine point black sharpie and traced around the letters to make them standout.
I then cut out the turquoise letters, and added them to the board.
Finally, the black letters.
The entire project took less than an hour, and cost me about $15.00. This week's giveaway is a mini plaque magnet I've created.
